Couple of days ago I noticed white spots on my female clownfish, all other fish were fine. It was only really noticeable at certain angles when the clown was directly under the fluro lights.

It got progressively worse, and then spots started to appear on the male. The female has cleared slightly and the male seems to be getting worse. (the pic is of the male)

All fish are still eating.

The clowns are mostly swimming at the top of the tank, and swim erractically now and then... shaking their heads.

My bi-color blenny has just started behaving strange, swimming in the open water for the last 24 hours... very quickly... (normally perches in its hole...) and I caught him rubbing himself off the rocks a couple of times.

The male clown seems to be breathing heavily.

Can anyone confirm what this is? then I can look up a treament, thanks for all your help. Hopefully the little guys will pull through...

its ICK, and you need to stop it asap, it can kill all of them in a matter of days. Seachem, garlic guard. soak the food 15 minutes. try it before adding chemicals IME. ive used it, and it works immeadiatly. you want see results for 3-4 days, then it starts disappearing slowly. repeat for 2 weeks daily. good luck, REEF-ON!!!

Thanks Nano, after closely looking at the Blenny tonight, it looks like loose salt on the skin..., I setup a QT so im going to remove all fish and slowly reduce the salinty and start hyposalinity... hopefully Im correct... with this diagnosis and the fish get better.

I don't think the picture is clear enough to reveal much .. the top of the head looks like it has a bit of excess mucus. Excess mucus is usually generated by the irritation from a parasite - what parasite (if any) is unknown.

Not sure how long you have had the fish ... but excess mucus with clowns raises a brooklynella concern (aka clownfish disease). If you sure your other fish have ich .. then that maybe the parasite causing the mucus. Hypo should be effective on ich .. but it won't have any impact on brooklynella.

If your still unsure, go ahead and remove all the fish and give the Clwns the formalin dips as well as hypo...Brook can affect other fish, so make sure to watch the others

Are these Clowns wild caught? If they are, its almost certainly Brook
