Okay, I've got two small patches of what appear to be algae growing in my tank, but I've never seen it before. Could someone help identify?

Tank is 180 gal reef with 40 gal sump that has been established for approximately 2 years.

Yeah probably cyano. Although from the pic looks almost like blue zoas haha. Posting a better pic would help immensely.

I too thought it looked like zoas

Yup like Tubbs Blue zoas. Don't try to scrape them off! Haha. But yeah a clearer pic would be good. People are always posting these blurry tiny grainy pics and asking for an ID. If you need help please ensure the subject is easily visible. I use an old iPhone in a life proof case to take underwater pics.

I'm just as guilty, most of mine go something like this:

Can someone help me with an ID? It's circled.

Identification help...

Haha yeah this seems to be what most people do. I've been spending a lot of time getting my pics clear enough to see if there are AEFWs on the skin of an acro over a foot away. Pretty useful when it comes to IDs ect. There should be a rule against using smart phones for this purpose . . .
