What type of anemone is this?

At my LFS, which is where I bought it, they labled it "Carpet Anemone", but were not specific. That is the reason for this thread. I am uploading a video that might help.

Sweet. I got it for $44.40, including tax. Mine is starting to open up now. And what is the best thing to feed them? I was told dead silversides, chopped up. Is that true?

I keep hearing bad things about silver sides so I quit using them. I just fed mine a small piece of shrimp. You may want to crank up the flow just a little on the anemone.

Alright, it just opened up all the way, and it is about 7 inches in diameter.

No idea...the LFS around me tend to be a bit high on their anemone prices, and rarely have anything healthy.

$120 would definitely be over-priced from what I've seen.

It gets to be about 8-9 inches in diameter. It has a white and green foot, then turns red, then the green nematocysts. They are in a single file line that lead to the center from the outside. It moves extremely fast, inflates and deflates rapidly. Nematocysts move by themselves very quickly. My all black saddle-back clown is now hosting in it too. I woke up this morning to it. Very cool to see the clown thrash inside of it, disappear, then reappear. He likes to just lay still in it. When I first saw him in there, he wasn't moving. It scared the living crap outta me! But then he started thrashing inside of it, so all is well.

Nematocysts are just the stinging cells, not something you'd be able to observe with the naked eye

Yah. Thats what I meant. LOL. I must be tired or something. Or it's just because I had to get up at 6 AM today instead of the usual 6:45 AM. (School starts at 8 AM mind you). Lets just go with tentacles then. :lol:

And the clown loves that anemone to death, or at least from what I saw. Before, he was hosting in the pulsing xenia. I am glad that he decided to test out the nem! :lol:

Have you boosted up the water flow yet? Usually when I see a video of a gigantea the water is moving a lot from different directions and the anemones seem to love it. I bet its mouth will close as soon as it gets more water flow.

Well, it has moved across the tank since the pics and vids, and is now stuck on the glass on the side without much flow. I don't know why it would do that, but at least the clown found it.
