Identify this algae. White-ish, clear-ish

I have been fortunate enough to not have much of an algae problem thus far and this question is mostly out of curiosity, and to be prepared in case I do have a problem in the future. There is no real problem currently. I have just never really seen an algae like mine. This is the one kind of algae I do consistently have in my tank, it is not that much but it is always there so I have become curious about it and want to know what it is in case I ever want to buy a couple snails to munch on it. I will attach some pictures, it is kind of light, to clear, to white-ish hair like algae.

Is it slimey to the touch?

Awwww, I think it is Chrysophytes, good call cloak.
flooddc, I did think it was simply unhealthy dying hair algae for a while but it was never green and kinda grew with that whiteish appearance from the start.
Hentz, it's not really slimy, i mean, if you were walking on tide pools with this stuff all over it would def be slippery, but I woudn't say slimy. And no slime ever comes off of it.

Next question is, is there snails that will eat this stuff? Assuming it is Chrysophytes, are there snails that eat chrysophytes, being a silicate based algae?
