Identify This Seahorse

Don't have her yet. Guy I know in Floida has her. I have lined seahorse and not positive from the picture but it looks a lot like a Reidi to me. I really want to stay with lined seahorses. (Although I do have one Reidi now)
Well that is one beautiful seahorse.... I don't think reidi, but because of the size I would guess H. Ingen. Unless the guy has tiny hands. I have never actually seen the Reidi X Erectus, so that would be a second guess. What is the guy telling you and where did he get her? If local caught it would probably be H. Erectus. Most Reidi are much smoother on the edges. Plus the crown doesn't look like Erectus either.. How much is he asking?

Thanks for the reply Redhorse. I would say definitely it's either Reidi or Erectus as it is a wild caught seahorse that was caught in Florida. I have 4 Erectus that my son and myself have caught here off the coast of Texas and this one seems to have a noticeably longer snout than the ones I have caught here in Texas. I always here how there is are slight differences between Gulf Erectus vs those caught in the Keys, South Atlantic, and North Atlantic. Not being an expert on the differences between the differences in the Erectus that occur defendant on their regions they inhabit I am having a difficult time identifying her from the picture. Could the longer snout from the ones I catch here in Texas be a trait of the region it was caught or is it a Reidi? As far as the size, my oldest male Erectus is between 7 and 8 inches long. I have had him for almost 4 years and would think he is in the neighborhood of 5 years old as he was about 2 1/2" long when I caught him.

Personally, I would say H. erectus, just based on the shape of the stomach. H. reidi normally have more svelte figures with slender stomachs. Though on google images I did see a couple of pictures of males that look similarly robust, so I suppose it is possible.
Do you know how big he is? The average H. reidi is a good inch or two larger than the average H. erectus.

The pony is about 6". I have heard know that Reidi grow larger on average but I have seen a few monster Erectus caught by a friend in his nets who is a commercial shrimper. Sea Center in Lake Jackson, Texas (Texas Parks and Wildlife speckled trout and redfish breeding facility) has a dried out Erectus that I guaranty will go 10"! Largest pony I have ever seen. I agree that the mid section of the pony in question is pretty deep and that is what has me confused as the snout seems pretty long, especially compared to my Gulf caught Erectus ponies. As my ponies are gulf Erectus, I am curious if this is just a trait of south Atlantic or Florida Key Erectus seahorses.
You could always ask an expert for help, I suppose. Maybe you could try emailing one of the people involved with The Seahorse Trust or Project Seahorse? According to their website, info@theseahorsetrust.org and info@projectseahorse.org are their respective emails.

I think that she's H. erectus, but here is a good guide if you want to count rings and really know what species she is.

Erectus...just like my avatar pic. The orange female was my favorite. Her mate was the brightest yellow so they were a stunning pair.

The seahorse in your avatar is really beautiful. I like your signature too. I feel like a slave while I am caring for the baby seahorses my pair had! LOL
