I have one hermit crab that has gotten enormous (5x larger than any of the other hermits that were placed in at the same time). Here are two pics:

Also, I have a strange thing growing on my glass. I actually have these growing 7 or 8 different places. There seem to be pods on the glass near each of them. Here are a few pics of those:

Any idea of the species of the hermit? Or the thing growing on the glass?

Sorry, was talking about the white thing, the red are fish flakes (took pics at feeding time). Pics aren't great, phone doesn't like taking pics of my tank.

And another patch of the stuff growing on the glass. I want to make sure it isn't any type of sponge or egg before I scrape it all off, especially since I have so many pods in the vicinity.

I have the same hermit well based on that picture. I bought a bunch of red leg and blue leg and one of mine is massive like yours has those same stripes on his legs, I left mine in as he has not pestered anything yet. Unfortunately I'm not sure what that stuff on your glass is.

Are hydroids good or bad? If bad, any idea on best way to remove? The hermit was definitely a shock, all of my others are still smaller than a quarter. I haven't noticed it killing any of the fish, though I did see it spending a lot of time on my macros

If the hermit is bothering coral remove or sump it. From what I read about hydroids you will want to remove them and guess manually is the best option. I don't know a ton about them just some stuff I have read in the past.
