If and when to introduce protein skimmer

I'm running 29g tank. I have couple chromies, 1 clown 1 yellow tang 1 hippo tank. Also have about 30 lbs of live rock with cpl frogspawn coral, green star polyp Xenia and purple tip anemone, no over flow tank just running bio hanging filter. Not sure if I need to add protein skimmer and what I would gain from it

Depends how much / how often you do water changes. IMO, get a protein skimmer.

FYI: a yellow tang requires a 70 gal tank. The hippo can grow up to 1 foot, and requires a 180 gal tank. You have both in a 29 gal tank.

I agree, unfortunately neither tang is appropriate for your tank. A skimmer will always be beneficial to your tank, but never absolutely necessary.

Yea, honestly you should remove those 2 tangs from your tank completely O.O
A yellow tang and a blue tang would not be acceptable in a tank 4x that size.
