if i have 2 clams that are 3" do i still need to feed?

So, they need phyto feeding for all of their lives? guess so from the post above.

O.k., two questions. I'm finallly starting to upgrade my lighting to MH, just for the purpose of keeping clams! you see, the flame angel is why I got into saltwater and the t. clams is why I got into reefs, currently I don't have either. But since I have a PFO 250W DE pendant coming in, the time for clams is finally coming!!!!

Q1. I recently got Daniel Knop's book, thinking that was the clam bible. Well, it might be, but I still felt a lot of questions remained unanswered for me (probably more related to the fact that the book was released in 96, and a lot has happened in the hobby since then). What other literature would you recommend?

Q2 I've got an infestation of mushroom polyps. Ups, I meant a nice growth of polyps spreading all over the tank. Simply put, aiptasia, were easier to deal with (although not as pretty) Will mushroom polyps harm clams?

can't wait for those blue maximas!

BTW tank is 125 Nature's view (72.5*18.5*21.5), while I have not decided as to how high the pendant will be, it is probably going to be anywhere between 12 to 18".

Thank you all,

Omar

oh, one more thing, if I just cut the air flow to the skimmer, would that work? I'd hate to have to turn off the pump itself.

Is Kent PhotoPlex good enough? I have a 3" squamosa that I've had for about three weeks. If not, I'll see if I can get some DT's - my local LSF always seems to be out of it.
I am putting 1 1/2 capfuls in twice a week - turning off the return pump and letting the powerheads move things around for 20 - 30 minutes. Is this long enough? Or should I still spot feed?
