If you have a clown in your tank, I have a question

If you have a clownfish in your tank, does it ever bite or nip you when you have your hands in the tank?
If it does, how aggressive is it when it does that?
My female just bites the crap out of me, every time I stick my hand in the tank. She will actually sneak up from behind the rocks to get to my hand. This is with a net in their, and shooing her away with my hand.
She isn't "hurting" me, just shocking me when I don't see it coming.
My wife say's I'm scared of a little clownfish, because I use a net to keep her away. W/E. I just wanted to see if anyone else has this happen with their clowns.
Thanks.

Is it a GSM? I've heard they can be brutal.

My wife got bit by my bicolor blenny yesterday...lol

Hey Shane,
Yes it is common, I have both a cinnamon and goldstripe that nit at me even during feeding!
The cinnamon has caused actual blood loss!! Not that bad..but bad enough to bleed lightly.
Thanks again for the light setup I did pm address etc..
Hope to see you come over to the space caost sometime.
Regards
George

Mine nips as I put my hands in the tank, but then leaves me alnoe. I saw yours last night and have never seen one act like that. Your wife is probably right, your just scared of a little clownfish. J/K

Mine seem so tame and dopey they are just misbars but... they seem to only want food.. I can put my hand next to them but hte female doesn't do much defending. She's more like "huh... whaaa?" then again they host in my veggie clip and don't have a real territory to defend. I think it'll just take them time, or quite possibly an anemone or another clown to show them how to host in something

Today I spotted them checking out my cynarina. If they do that, we will have words.

My maroons don't bother me...but draw blood when Tom tries to clean the tank. They sneak up him just like yours sneak up on you! Just defending their territory. I figure, after all they've been through getting into our tanks, they're not taking any chances of getting plucked out of their new homes. I don't blame them!

mine started to do it when they got bigger - when they were young they never did it - but i showed them who was boss one time and they havent done it sense - so who knows

My female clarki will draw blood if I let her. She is no longer scared of a net because I have to clean my tank with the net between me and her or she'll go to town! She'll attack my aquatongs, or anything else if I don't use my hands. Remind me and I'll show you when you stop by!

Clowns don't like bullies messing with their home:)...some will defend it without regard as to what they are defending against.

Mine is still small, but will scare you when he bites. I just redid my roof and got a blister, well he knew what to go for anytime I stick my hand in he'll try to bite the sore. Little jerk. LOL

:fish1: ................. ahhhhhh look out!!!

Geez my 2.5 foot green headed eel scares me enough when he tries to eat me, couldnt imagine one of my clowns attacking. You should all wear gloves, maybe Marcye can do a group buy on the chainmail gloves they use when diving with sharks.

Both my female and male black ocellaris will bite the poo out of your hand when it enters there tank. Makes for fun when trying to feed the RBTA. I usually feed them right before I feed the RBTA to pre-occupy them.

My false percs have never tried to bite me. Just Brannon's bicolor blenny. He bit the crap out of my finger the other night at feeding time, and I dropped the can of flake food all over the floor. Note to self : buy more fish food today :)

Weird. My bi-color is a sissy and hides whenever my hand hovers over the little aquapod to feed.

He also competes with 2 yellow watchman gobies and they are similarly shaped so i think he's a little afraid of my hand potentially being a big goby swimming overhead. When the food comes by he's no longer afriad :)

My adult Female Fire clown is mean and big. She wont bite my palm but the minute I flip my hand over she goes right for my knuckles or any place where my skin is stretched tight. She will draw blood. She also bites my tang whenever it gets too close. Very aggressive fish but I have had her for 3+ years and can't bring myself to trading/selling her.

Mine gets a little aggressive on his end of the tank. I can point at him and he won't nip, but as soon as I go to do something he goes after me again. My nephews find it absolutely hilarious
