Emerald Bay has an awesome bright yellow mantis. I believe it is Pseudosquilla ciliata. It is a spearer and already eating. Very active. It is a fish eater so species tank would be a must. Snails and crabs should be safe.

Definitely cool. I dropped in tonight as I was "driving by" and saw it. Good size too, probably at least 4 inches.

Spearers are hard to come by. It would be a very good addition to a species tank like a nano cube, etc.

The only down side is they tend to be very reclusive. Once they have a den setup, they sit at the opening waiting for something to come by to eat.

Smashers on the other hand are little architects, allways working to improve their den, wandering around exploring etc.

This species is one of thhe few spearers that will build a burrow. I forms a u-shaped burrow to live in. It was very active at the store flying across the tank after his prey!!

Mine is doing good too. I just fed her a guppy. :) Usually its frozen krill about once a week, but I give her a treat every now and then. :)

Mine gets mostly nuisance crabs from Emerald Bay. Giant Hairy Crabs, etc. When they dont have any then she gets organic shrimp (it is processed in DI water, so its good cheap food, once package from Kroger lasts a long time). My wife thinks Im nuts buying a 20 dollar package of shrimp for the fish tanks.

The frozen krill and/or plankton lasts a long time. I have the package where its in frozen cubes and 1 cube will last 2-3 weeks because I usually cut them in half. I worry sometimes that I'm underfeeding her, but then again... she's been doing fine for about 9 months now on the same schedule.

It is amazing. I wish I had another cube, I would snap it up in a heartbeat.

My current mantis is about 75% of that size, but it is a smasher.

i watched it with sean tonight as he fed it a feeder fish. it snapped that goldie up with extreme prejiduce:) quit the sight to behold!<~~~steve
