Ignoring anemone?

Hello everybody .For about three months I have one False Percula and yesterday I purchased Bubble Tip Anemone for it , they tailed me in the store it is a host anemone so is going to be fine. But the clown fish is ignoring this anemone. Why?

Give it a little while. It took my true Percs 2 weeks+ to warm up to the GBTA I gave them. Usually just takes a little time.

it may take quite some time or it may never go into the anemone. It is harder to introduce an anemone to a clownfish than to introduce a clownfish to an anemone.

The clownfish probably already has a host and is hesitant to change. If you are in a hurry you can re-arrange the rockwork or powerhead etc. to eliminate or change whatever the clown is currently hosting.

Jerry, I would like to know also. I have had my false percula for about a year now and an anemone for several months. Ofcourse my clownfish is tank bred and maybe that is why it has nothing to do with my gbta...

This worked for me with a pair of saddle backs I had in a 30g. I removed everything except a flower pot and the rock the anemone was on. As soon as I removed the last piece of live rock to another tank the saddle backs jumped right in the anemone and haven't left since. Over the last couple weeks I have returned the live rock to the tank being careful not to create any other pockets or potential hiding spots.

Now my female saddle back is so concerned with the anemone that today she was practically force feeding it 3 big pieces of krill. I guess she though somebody was hungry.

Nope, has absoutely nothing to do with it being tank bred. I have a few tank bred pairs (orange ocellaris, black ocellaris, perculas, fire clowns) and all of them took to anemones.

Sometimes it just takes time. As was said, the clowns sometimes have already established a surrogate host and are unwilling to part with it.

I was wandering the same thing. I have had my two ocellaris clowns for two years and just got my GBTA 4 days ago and they are ignoring it also. I found that my 2clowns like it where there isn't really strong water movement and they would have to go through the strong current from my Seios to get to yhe anemone. i think we all know by now that clownfish are not the most adventurous fish in the world. They usually stay near the front left lower corner of the tank. I was thinking of changing the the flow of the powerheads.

my clowns ignored my rbta when it situated itself at a high current area. i intentionally pointed a powerhead at it to get it to move lower. once it did, the clowns jumped right in. the rbta has moved a few times since and the clowns follow it wherever it goes.

I am thinking about taking this clown back to store and getting different one with nature instincts .This one was tank breaded.

i have two tank bred clowns and a GBTA (9") it took 2 weeks but they are in it now all the time,

however i have another GBTA that they pay no attention too its probably too small (3-4") that has been with them for two months

The problem may be in the clowns themselves.
Are they tank raised Or caught wild?
Tank raised have A not so hot record of taking to a anenome.
Percs arent usually found with Bubble tips in the wild so that may be part of the reason. Hope that can help you friend.

It just takes time. I have an RBTA and I just happend to wake up one morning and both of my percs were in there after hosting in hairy mushrooms and frogspawns for months. You never know, it literally can happen overnight.

I tried the trick with the colander and the clowns seam completely uninterested. They have been in there for 4 days now. I even removed the anemone from the rock by pointing a pwerhead at it and got it to go onto my fingers. Now the only thing in the colander is the clowns and the BTA. They still won't go to it.

Do you think the BTA is too small? It is 3-4'' opend up and the clowns are wild caught ocellaris. the female is about 3'' and the male is 2-21/2'' long.

I don't know, maybe they've been out of an anemone for so long They don't know what it is.

IMO yes the nem is too small for thoise guys my percs completly ignored the 3-4" BTA that was in with them for a couple of months but were in the larger one within two weeks

Thanks dandandandandandandandandandandandandandandandandandandandandandan...SORRY! I got carried away.
Hopefully they will jump in when the BTA gets bigger. It eats like a pig.
How long do BTAs take to get full size? (12'') I feed it now 2-3 pieces of krill once a week.

I have tank raised and wild clowns. They host in something different every day, including a 2inch BTA. They even host in a hairy shroom and xenia. Give them time.
