Ill Naso

Greetings!

I am a newbie (2 months). I have an ill Naso.

(Set-up: 75 gallon, sump pump, power heads, live rock, naso, small school of green chromis (4), blue starfish, and cleaning crew.) Last testing - this afternoon - everything normal and salinity hovers between 1.024 and 1.025.

Not too long ago, my Naso was diagnosed with ich and has been treated ever since with the approp. dosage of Kick-ich. This past Friday we thought all was clear.

Saturday, lights on, and notice what appeared to look like sand on her face and gill area. Thought it was the return of ich (continued medicating). Perky, still had her appetite, swimming along just fine.

As of this afternoon, got home, and her specks look worse. She ate her supper, and just recently looks as if her breathing has become labored. On her right gills there appears to be three very small stringy like things coming out.

Am I to fear the worst???? Can ANYONE please give me any advice as to what this or what can I do for her???

THANK YOU!!!

ouch, one sad looking fish with those eyes. read up on hyposalinity, copper treatments, and qt/hospital tanks.

any other treatment is basically a waste of money (i.e. kick-ick).

Hey there.

Honestly kick ich sucks. It really doesn't work imo. Everything probably looked good because the parasites all fell off and are in your substrate getting ready to come back 10 fold. You need to hospital tank all of them. That guy looks to have black ich. I have a naso as we'll and when i first got him he had black ich. Hit google and do some research on it and decide what treatment you want to do with it. Feed him lots and they like to eat all the time. I always have some nori that is soaked in garlic on the glass in a lettuce clip. Then he eats 2 small meals in the morning and night. My guy is now very plump:)Definetly deal with that black ich or he will indeed die on you.

good luck
Lisa
