I'm back! and, looking for LR

Well, after about 3 years off, I'm back in the game. I'm starting off small this time for financial reasons, but I'm back with a tank never the less.

I'm running a 12g aquapod (54w PC lighting) with plans for a minireef. The long term goal is:
- 2 true percs
- 1 cleaner shrmp
- perhaps a goby/blenny/jawfish if there's room
- a few soft corals (mushrooms, xenia, gsp, zoos, etc.)
- a couple LPS (hammer, bubble, fox)
- an nice variety of crabs and snails

I'm so happy to have my hands wet again. I wanted a bigger tank (duh), but for financial reasons decided to start small. The aquapod is a very nice, clean package that should work well for me and my 2 young children.

Now, onto my question...

Neither of the LFS in my area (Creature Comforts in Binghamton and Nature's Best Fish in Vestal) have decent LR. I thought about ordering some online, but since you can't specify the size of the rocks, I'm worried about getting 1 or 2 really big pieces and a ccouple of smaller ones. And considering the size of my tank, I can't really work with large pieces of rock.

So I guess I've got 3 options...

OPTION 1: Would anyone be interested in going in on an order of LR with me if it meant I got first pick of the rock, looking for pieces that would work in my nano?

OPTION 2: Are there any LFSs within an hour or so of Binghamton known to have good rock? I don't mind travelling, but if I'm going to go very far, I want to be able to get all my rock in one trip - probably 10lbs or so.

OPTION 3: Anyone have rock they are looking to get rid of? As with option 2, if I'm goign to be travelling very far, I'd like to get as much rock as I can in the trip.

Thanks eveyone.

IMHO, to much for a 12G, over-populated. as far as the rock i have who you are looking for. www.premiumaquatics.com will sell nano (no min. lbs required) and hand picked if you specify. go for the Kaelini or Fiji, they have much better shapes, as far as caves and holes and much more pourous than other rocks. which in turn means more beneficial bacteria, and bio-logical filterization. hope this helps and good luck. BTW, tell Jeremy, john m, AKA as nano4brains refered you, he might give you a better price.

Check out www.nano-reef.com tons of useful info there. I have a 12 gallon nano cube, they are a great size tank. Check it out
There are a bunch of mods you can do to it that really help it out. PM me if you want and i'll help reccomend changes.

this might sound silly but just break the bigger lr into smaller rocks works the same also nice for making tunnels my fish love swimming through them.
welcome back

Jeremy - your tank looks great. Looks like you went in a very similar direction to where I want to go.

I would be interesting in hearing about some of the improvements you can make to what seems like an already good setup in the Aquapod.

I probably could part with some LR. Just need to know how much you are looking for. I think I have too much and want to make my tank a little bit more open. PM me and we can chat.
