after almost a year in limbo im back but not with a reef tank. i have a 170gal fowlr tank. the tank is 60"Lx18"Dx36"H. for light i have a 48" coralife lunar aqualight, filtration is a cpr cy294 wet/dry with two 6" diameter skimmers, flow in the tank is provided by one seio 1500 and return from the sump.stock list as of now is

lionfish (not sure if volitan or dwarfs)
eel (snowflake or chain link)
possibly a scorpian fish

if you have any other ideas for a stock list let me know.

Woot! Glad to see you stuck around Josh, I saw your tank on C-list awhile back and figured you were just done.

Would love to see that tank all set up, post pics soon!

yeah it was taking so long for me to get it up and running that i started to loose interest. funny thing is i walked into the deep to talk to mike about selling my tank and saw a couple of fish i want. three days later my tank was up and running. just have a few damsels in it right now but will start adding fish probably next week.

here is a pic from today.

Thats going to look good with a nice Lion in it. Going to go fancy with a Radiata, or putting in a nice Volitan?

Have you considered a Marine betta? I remeber Steve had one and it was cool.

Maybe a nice large tang, or one of those beautiful full size angels that you can't have with a reef. Now if the chance! Spendy but really nice.

im still in the air with the lion. i want a volitan but if i do a dwarf lion i can have more fish. no large angels the tank is only five foot long.

I was always partial to the Fuman chu Lion like Micaiah had, but after Mike ordered in a Radiata and I saw it in person, I would buy one above any other lion if I had a tank for it.

But in an aggressive only, I wonder if the fins would get nibbled off.

Staying away from puffers with the acrylic?

no puffers. no triggers because they will nip at the lions fins. a radiata lion is an option because it gets big but not as big as a volitan.

they can scratch the tank with their teeth. is it common, i dont think so since alot of people have them in acrylic tanks. thats not why im not getting one. i just dont want one.

FYI the store in Red Bluff - The Aquarium is back in the saltwater business. They have a couple nice angels, regal, blue face, etc. as well as a really nice Sohal tang and a clown tang. They had some corals, zoas too. Not trying to hijack your thread just wanted to tell ya bout the angels, and tangs.

Tank is looking good.

Glad to see you are back in! Be sure to not use copper in it for when you give in and go back to a reef tank. (-:

hey bill. i like the cy294 because of its size and the skimmers are built in. plus the filter is rated for twice the size of my tank so it should handle large fish. i also dont like it because of its size. it goes from one end of the stand to the other so there is no room in the stand for anything else.

i decided on this for my stock list.
1 volitan lion (my centerpiece)
1 eel (snowflake or chainlink)
1 majestic angel
1 miniatus or blueline grouper

Nice stock list Josh. I love the Miniatus. I will have to look up a blueline, not familiar with that one.

The Majestic Angel is a nice one too.
