I'm bored so i'm posting pics

Wow. So you are suggesting basically diverting the overflow to a drain while you add new water to the tank...What a ridiculously simple idea. I was thinking something involving expensive and brand name computer systems and pumps like this!

I guess I could get your idea to work, but what would i do with the extra $4,000?

It will cost you 4,000 if you let me install the system :eek2: LOL

Clownfish at waterchange time.

This one thinks he's a clownfish!

lol heres a picture of my puffer thinking he is a clownfish and hosting my giant cup mushroom. At night, one of my clownfish sleeps in there and its funny to see the puffer get in the way and get nipped by the clownfish.

Great looking tank BTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he's never bitten any coral or anything and bit me only once when i was doing a water change and forgot my finger tip was in the water. the only problem with him is he always either lays on top of that giant cup mushroom, or lay on my zoa garden when he's not out swimming.

Way back in the misty past, as a teenager, I took a shot at saltwater. I had a just a few fish, one of which was a puffer. I hand fed it and that usually worked fine. One time, he chomped on me instead of the shrimp and I yanked my hand back. Unfortunately for him, he was still hanging on and got flung across the room. He lay on the floor puffed up and making quacking noises. He was fine but I'm not sure who was more upset about the whole incident. I still hand fed after that because I'm sure it was an accident on his part.

Thats too funny......I had a similar experience only with a 2ft moray. He would come up to the corner of my 120 and wait for me to give him his shrimp. I was holding it with my fingers and it slipped and the eel grabbed my finger instead. Anyways I did post some more pics today as i was burning time waiting for my wife to deliver.....

if so thats awesome. hello, im a reefaholic, and i knew it was a problem when while waiting for a newborn joy i was paruzsing the reef fourm. im right there in the club. thats funny though.

waterchanges!

It all starts here...
tank.jpg

The salt water mixing tank... I actually have 2 of these, the other one is auto topped off with RODI and I pump it into this one for mixing with salt. They each hold 100g, so I usually have about that ready to change if needed.

I pump water to the tank with this
pump.jpg

The in tube is on top, and comes from the mixing tank

This is where the magic happens...I open the drain at the bottom.

drain.jpg

and while I'm filling the tank with new water, I run the drain to the sink

sink.jpg

End result, 80g waterchange with no water on the floor, no buckets being carried AND no unsightly dead coralline as the water stays at the top of the dt while the water is being changed!

Tada!

nice setup....and yes delivering a baby...we are at the hospital now. Been here since 730am.....baby is kicking...future reefer and guitar virtuoso

I had a puffer almost but my finger off diving in Maui. Came in from behind and scared the $$$$ out of me. They really can bite the tip of your finger off so be carefull.
