I'm going deep...

As in a DEEP Sand Bed in my refugium.

I just dumped in 100lbs. of sand in to my refugium (20g tank). Of course, I took out the macroalgae first and drained some of the water.

The sand is still settling, but I now have a nice six inch or so Deep Sand Bed in my refugium.

I'll post pictures tomorrow after it's cleared up fully (almost all clear now).

And all I need now is a nice cup full of two of some really live sand to kick it in to action.

Any volunteers?? :)

nice.. I did too a few months ago to have a more diverse population of critters as well as plants.....

Lonnie--I can hook you up when I get back from Thanksgiving. I've got lots'o spaghetti worms, bristleworms (if I can catch them...). What you get for wickedly overfeeding your tank...

i have a 5gal bucket full of southdown sand it just needs to be rinced out as its from my old tank if you need all i ask in return are maybe some mushrooms or some macro for my f uge :-p

Still some settling of the silty sediment going on 12 hours later...

Nice Lonnie.
Thanks to the both of you, but I am looking for unused sand.
Not a big fan of taking on someone elses nutrients.;)

Hey so thats what sand looks like? LOL Looking good Lonnie im thinking of running a remote DSB myself. My Nitrates are way to high with my fish population and overfeeding :)

bill the sand i have is basically unused for the last 2 years.

if you want i can rinse it but i dont have anywhere for it its a full to the rim 5gal bucket

Thanks a lot Keith, but I have been informed of some fresh sand in the bag I might be able to get. I prefer that to used sand.

bill,

where you getting it i am thinking of going back to a sand bed since i am mainly soft corals again. nio need for the bare bottom any more. thinking of just dumbing the sand on top of the starboard.

any rejections?

I have no idea. Someone told me he knows someone that "might" have some bagged sand, but nothing definite.

Yup, dump it on the starboard.
Hey, how do you make sand any dumber?
