IM Micro 30 setup

I have a submersible led strip/tube that is 6500k that my LFS sells. It was $45 and I am thinking of getting rid of it and just going with the skkye utility light.

I don't like the submersible one because all the extra light on my walls at night bothers me and it get covered with algee and I have to clean it often. The skkye utility light would face down over the top of the water and wouldnt spread much.

Also I never added this in my thread, but all my fish I had died from ICH because I was not properly set up with a QT and didn't know much about it. I have now read up on it a lot and have had my tank fallow for over a month now. I will wait the 10 weeks then set up my QT tank and start adding fish the right way.

They all opened up within minutes of putting them in my tank. I am going to move my scape again and try to put the rock with the SPS up a little higher, but I figured I would give them a day or two to get settled in.

I am using Reef fusion 2 part right now, but thinking about going to BRS 2 part.

I used that had some trouble with it. Wasn't working right for me but I think it was my salt mix I'm not sure who was the culprit. I switched to reef crystals and b ionic 2 part and I won't ever go back

Wow that thing is filling up nicely, have you thought about jbjs fuge light? Sorry to hear about you ich, im having that problem now. To top that off 1 week ago i added some pumps i bought used and never rinsed and had a massive bryopsis outbreak and tore everything down and started over lol. Keep up the good work!

Yeah the ICH sucks, but I am into my 6th week now so only 3 more to go. That sucks about your pumps I bought a used MP 10 that was a month old and it was dirty so I was sure to clean it off.

I have thought about that light It is the one that sits in the water too right? I think I would have the same problem with the algee getting on the light. I just traded my brother my 30W SKKYE light for his 8W SKKYE light from Innovative Marine he got with his 8 Gal and will be putting that over my fuge. I think it will work out perfect for my fuge.

I think my brother has this light and from what I remember it shines through the glass maybe?

My problem is the back of the tank I have is covered in black Vinyl so no light is getting through.

Well a little update to the tank thread. I have a few new additions in the tank. I picked up some ORA green Birdsnest, Space Monsters and have some Blue Agaves that my brother picked up in Denver. I wont be getting the Blue Agaves until December which sucks.

This Friday I hope to be picking up my Blonde Hair Blue Eye B******.

The only pic i have right now is of the Space Monsters I will try to get some more tonight.

Very nice tank. I am planning on buying the IM 30 or the nanocube 24 LED. Still researching though. Where did you get the refugium light that you are using? Also do you notice any temp problems with the top on the system? I noticed you are running your system without the top on.

No I have the top on mine? I have the clips that hold it on the sides of the glass so you cant see them from the front. I have no issues with heat and my light is about 2" off the glass.

For my refugium light I am using the 8W Skkye Light that came with my brother 8 gal Nuvo and I gave him my 30W Skkye light that I got with my 30 gal.

Here is a pic of the refugium light now I had to rig it up with 3M zip tie mounts and zip ties, but it works and you can't even see it from the front of the tank.

Yeah thats a good choice IMO. I have heard of lots of people using it and it works well. Plus it is easier to mount than the one I have now.

Have you looked at IM new skimmers? How well does the Hydor that you are using work?

Yes I have seen them online not in person. For the money I would of got the mid size one they just made as I paid just over $100 for the Hydor and it's only rated to 15 gal in a heavily stocked tank. The IM one is rated to 60 gal I believe. So far it has been working good for me I like the fact that you can't see it sticking up over the top of the tank and the IM one sticks up.
