My 120 is all cycled and ready for some frags. If you can help me out please let me know, I'm happy to pay cash for the favor.

Zach.

so far I have frogspawn, hammer coral, some zoa's, xenia, mushrooms, etc. Im looking for almost anything that can help to fill my tank.

right now I have a 250w metal halid and 2 96w actinic's. But I plan on selling that fixture and getting all 8x65w pc's within the next week. My metal halide is right over my center brace so it is casting a big shadow and has to go. Wanna trade?

no... i have halides... the reason i asked is for fragging purposes. to see what type of corals you would be able to keep

If you are going with PC's I would strongly recommend ay least looking into T-5's instead, much more light gets to your corals with T-5's(and good reflectors). Either that or get a 2nd halide and supplement with t-5, even better. T-5's run much cooler and use less energy though (than MH). Just a thought for you to kick around. Hope all goes well.

I also have some frags if interested...frogspawn, xenia, various softies/ shooms.

FWIW I would look into a different setup than the pc's. I started off with them years ago and then switched to different lighting as my interest grew. With T-5's it's the quality of the reflectors that really make the difference. Those units will get you by, but I would look into something you can grow into like this... http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/T5...-Output_Fixture_with_Bulbs_by_Sunlight_Supply

I would strongly encourage you to consider the 6 bulb version for a long term solution on a 120 gallon. The T-5 lamps will give you much more bang for your buck on a larger setup than the pc's.
You could also add a 2nd 250w halide instead. Lighting is going to come down to your preference and the corals you want to keep. If you will be sticking with softies, polyps, and lps you can save $ on your elec bill going with the T-5 setup over a 2nd 250w halide. The options are endless and in this hobby you always seem to outgrow what you have. Buying a little more than you think you need may be a wise investment down the road.

I would also recomend t5s, as your interest grows you will be very limited in what you can keep. I used to think I just needed watts and type of light didn't matter. Unfortunately hundreds later I replaced my lights and spent evenore more money. T5s are great because you won't have as many hear problems as metal halide.

I have had both MH and t-5 lighting systems and when choosing a new system I went back to using the t-5s. I like to be able change the light spectrum by changing a tube or two without spending hundreds of dollars (less than $25 per tube) I also like the benefit of not having the heat issues of the MH and less electric used. Both saving me $$$. I do miss the shimmer of the MH though but it's a small price to pay for the benefits of the t-5s.
Just my thoughts on the subject. Oh, one more thing... I keep sps, lps,and softies all do well under t-5s.

I don't know if this is true or not but I heard somewhere that t5s can last up to 2 years. Now they may not maintain output but its better than 6 months to a year for metal halide .
