I finally got my tank switched over to my bigger tank. Well i got all the fish and corals transfered and now my royal gramma is MIA. I saw him to into the tank, but he's gone now. I searhed the whole tank for him with no results, i looed around the tank and everything but nothing :( He was my favorite fish so i'm hoping he reappears out of thin air (well water lol) Poor guy i hope he's alright.

Frightened fish sometimes get into the darndest holes in rocks. Be sure that every rock you moved has the same apertures facing open water now, so that if he's gone in, he can get out.

hmmmm maybe he is in a hole in the rock. I'm pretty sure i put the rock back the way it was, do you think he could have gotten himself stuck in the rock or will he squirm himself out eventually?

I had a royal gramma when i swithced from my 55 to 125 and I could not find him anywhere after i took my rock out. Well, he survived 3-4 hours of being in the rock without any water and magically reapeared after a few days.

He'll pop out when he gets hungry enough. I had a firefish disappear after a tank change only to pop out about 3 days later at feeding time. Give it some time.

I would also be willing to bet he is hiding. I had a fridmani dissapear one time when moving and I was convinced I had flushed him accidently. It took several weeks for him to finally show himself again with the lights on.

Thanks for the info guys :D I feel alot better, i was just really bumbed, he is such a cool fish. He is best friends with my percula, and they swim together all the time. He even chased my damsel away anytime it gets too close to the percula, tons of personatly. After hearing what you guys have said i bet he is hiding too :D

shake your booty in front of tank. he might reappear. no, i had a RG go MIA for a couple days 1 time, then suddenly appeared. he's definately gone now though after getting eaten by RBTA.

When I switched from my 55 to the 100 I didnt See MY Royal Gramma for 3 days ...all the sudden POP...there he was :)

Good Luck!!

He'll come out soon, probably stressed and scared. SW fish rarely get stuck in rocks. He may not reconize his "own" rock after the move, so he is semi-lost. They are tough, so just wait him out.

Good Luck.

PS-- Just noticed you no longer in Alaska. WOW, talking about a change--From Alaska to Florida!!

not to rain on your parade. but the same thing happend to me one time. didnt have a happy ending!
i found my poor purple psuedochromis's face being eaten by hermits coz she got herself stuck in a hole in a rock. she had gotten frightend when i broke my tank down and was trying to catch her.
what a shame i tell ya! what a shame...........

Awww thats so sad :( I do have good news though, he appeared, from where i have no clue, but he swimming around with the clownfish again :D Hehehehe I'm so happy :D

I put a six line wrasse in my tank one afternoon and he swam around happily until the lights went out. Next morning, lights come on, he's nowhere to be found for 2 hours. So I"m p*****. I start ripping rocks down, disrupting the whole tank. Trying to find places to set stuff without one coral stinging the crap out of another one, and never found him. Put it all back. A few hours later, he was out and swimming.
I guess what I learned and what my point is, next time I would give it more time. When you start digging through the tank, some of these fish just bury themselves deeper in a rock and they're more scared, so you can move the rock they're in and they don't come out.
In short, if they're alive, tearing the tank down isn't always the answer. Unless you're sure it died and/or you have a huge ammonia spike.
