Razor blade or shears work great for me.

Cutting through the black coral was a pain for me. I did it but I would say hardest coral I've cut so far and I've cut a bunch . I really couldn't see a razor doing it?

Probably depends on how thick it is, the real problem is that they bend making it tough to cut.
