Imperator Angel...Aggressive?

How aggressive are imperator angels? I currently have a purple tang, hippo tang, foxface, flame angel, and a pair of clowns. I am wondering how aggressive an imperator would be towards these fish. Also the Imperator would be larger than all the others.

Thanks

James

I don't find them agressive, but I have always started with juveniles about 1.5 inches.

I have a transitioning Emperor with a Regal, Foxface, Kole Tang, 2 Clowns and a bunch of Fairy Wrasses.

He pays no attention to any of the fish but the Regal. He doesn't rough up the Regal but he will grunt at and chase him every once and a while to make sure the regal knows who the boss is.

Some are mellow and some are very aggressive. Overall I would put them in the aggressive catagory, along with passer and mac's.

I figured that since he was so much bigger than the rest that he really wouldnt feel threatened by them so he wouldnt feel the need to beat them up.

I bough a juvi emperor and rabbitfish at the same time - they were both about three inches at the time (about 2-3 years ago)

Guess who rules the tank now (155g).

The emperor and the rabbitfish try to duke it out everyday - they clearly not friends - but they like to p.o each other all day.

I found with mine (over a 2-3yr period) that as long as nothing tried to square up to him, he was fine, and in fact peaceful....... "walked quietly and carreid a big stick".

So long as he was allowed to be the first to feed, and so long as others basically moved out of his way, then he was fine...... if something did challange him, try to feed before him, or was stubborn and did not give him a wide birth, then he would chase them up and dwon the tank once or twice to emind them who was boss, and then all would be rosy again.

I would certainly say he was not a bully, and did not chase other fish for chasing sake, or nip at the others fins or anything, just for the hell of it - the way say a damsel would.

But by all accounts they are a very variable fish..........

The above is true - the one thing to note is this fish is really meant to be in a tank no less than 6 ft. There has to be enough room for cruising and getting out of the way.
