Improve performances - Tunze 9004

Hello,

I'm using in my small sump (20 litres) the tunze skimmer 9004 but seems not performing very well for my tank (80 litres). How you suggest me to improve the performance ? I thought to put in my sump one small circulation pump !

I'm going to guess there's not much for the skimmer to pull out. It looks very clean in your tank.

I would agree, but it is also submerged quite deep, try raising it so 1/4-1/2 of the intake is submerged. Is it bubbling at least? If not the air intake may have detached from the pump and needs to be clipped back on. In general lower depth of submersion and air as open as possible is the best.

Air is always completely open. Submersion... usually the water cover completely the grid... is correct or not ?

The water level works best on mine when it about one third of the way up the intake grill.

Also my tunze 9004 works at same water level... but I think that the ptoblem, in my case, is the sump dimension (very small) that not allow a good water circulation. For this I thouth to put in the sump a small circulation pump. If you can see the Tunze 9404... the concept is the same (see next picture)... the system use one pump for have the correct water level and move the water. what do you think if I had one circultion pump in the sump ?

The 9404 keeps the water level right at half of the intake submerged, I would try a lower water level and see if this does not result in an improvement first.

In this days I stoped my Tunze 9004 (10 min) ones a day and I noticed better performance. My doubt is if this procedure demage the engine of the skimmer !

It is no problem to stop the skimmer for feeding or other reasons during the day.
