You can probably double or triple the value of your Nikon lenses by doing this to them.

Nikon doesn't have painted rings on them, but you could paint your red Canon stripe gold. Then it would look like a Tamron.

Yes, but by painting on a red ring you're making your Nikon look like a Canon. No one has to know that underneath the red is just boring black
