So I came home today and saw a rather large box on my stoop. Unfortunately, i appears as if UPS KICKED the box all the way to my house. BOOOO.....
Bring it in and see the damage. As a side note, BRS specifically states they don't warranty shelf rock and state they package it to avoid breakage. That's crap. Large shelf pieces are like china plates. Very fragile. They stacked it rock upon rock and jammed peanuts around them. Essentially, it was rock on rock the whole way to my house. Very displeased. I specifically asked for two large 18" plates and the balance to be of varying size. This is plate number one:
I forgot to take a picture of plate two but it is in four pieces instead of two like the other one.
On the other hand I did get this sweet piece. Its HUGE and heavy. At least 10lbs and 14"x12" with a base point about 4" long and 4" in diameter. GORGEOUS!
All 65lbs of the rock:
And finally.............
My new 180.
Rounding out the update, two new 300watt heaters. I thought my 250's were big. HA, these are HUGE.
Now the only thing holding me up is getting the price from my mill worker and getting him started......
Got my quote from the mill worker....It was withing my budget. WooHoo. Now he needs to get final exact measurements so he can start building the stand. Hopefully tomorrow I will get his sketches so I can post them here. The stand is going to be made out of 7/8" plywood and clad in poplar then painted in white conversion varnish.
I am also putting in new carpet so I placed the order today and got that ball rolling as well.
Got home today and was greeted to the beautiful sight of brown shipping boxes. More tank build stuff!! Three of them are Tropic Marine Pro Reef 200 gallon buckets. I won't bore anyone with picture of salt buckets...haha
First was the replacement MP40 from Ecotech. I must say that Tim really stepped up and made things right. At 4pm yesterday we resolved the issue and and new MP40 was at my door by noon today. Outstanding.
I was also surprised to get my MP60 today. Super fast shipping from a good ebay seller; a killer price on a new sealed MP60 to boot! I bought it Wednesday, got it today.
I always thought that Ecotech did a great job in their packaging presentation and they topped it with the bi-fold opening box.
This thing is big even though the websites say it isn't much bigger than a MP40. It is also heavy. It almost seems as if it wouldn't be able to hang on the tank by magnets. It also looks more industrial than the MP40. Definitely seems beefier or sturdier. I like it a lot. Hopefully it lives up to its looks.
Finally, I received my mill workers sketch. I am excited to see this thing start to take shape. The two smaller end will step back about 3" both on the stand and hood with the crown and lower trim following the outline. So I gave him 1/2 down and he has started working on the stand. Sorry about the photo of the sketch, he is old school and doesn't use any digital format.
So tomorrow I'm off to find new living room furniture. Might as well redo the whole room while I'm at it.
Thanks. Their website claims that it isn't coverable. To be honest, I don't feel like arguing and to be even more honest, I don't like the shelf rock. It looks like broken pieces of concrete floor, save for the one large piece I took a picture of that wasn't broke. I ordered more standard rock from BRS and the rest is sump bound. I plan on mocking up, drilling and dry fitting my rockscape soon.
Also bought new living room furniture today so the new living room components are almost assembled.
First off, I tore down my 120 and ripped up carpet. My new carpet is going to be installed a week from Saturday. I placed everything in a new rubbermaid 100 gallon stock tank.
Here I cut up a old salt bucket for for a skimmer stand to hold an old skimmer I had. I drilled holes in it to be sure watr flowed through.
I had a nova extreme pro 4 bulb t-5 light sitting around. I rigged up a make shift light stand for the tank.
Here is a shot of everything in the temporary stock tank. Everything has been in there 4 days and everything so goos so far.
The big new is my base cabinet is done and here. It is all plywood construction and will be clad in raised panels. The vertical supports are 1" thick, horizontals are 3/4". There will be a full hood from the ceiling to the top of the tank to mirror the stand.
