I have a fuzzy dwarf lionfish in quarantine and he has ich. I ordered some Cupramine online but it won't be here until Monday. Does anyone in the Des Moines area have some I could buy? Would love to start treating him tomorrow........thanks for any help.....
If your lionfish is still eaten I would just vitamin load his food and let him fight it.. Lionfish are very sensitive to medicine... So if he is eating.. My opinon is to feed him vitamin rich food and recover on his own.
Thanks for the replies I have checked with Ia Pet and they don't have any They carry Coppersafe which in my opinion is not suitable for lions. I've found Cupramine is tolerated by most as I've used it before and had good luck. He is still eating and I'm doing water changed daily from the bottom of the tank to suck out as many cysts and possible. He's not suffering but has blown his slime coat to rid himself of discomfort. Would really like to start the treatment before Monday but hopefully he'll be okay until then. I am soaking his food in vitamins and garlick. He's very small and in a 10 gallon quarntine tank so waterchanges are not a problem. Thanks again for trying to help.....
If Des Monies has a PetSmart try there. They carry SeaChem products. I would take Pygmey's warning though. You could at least try a less dangerous method like Kick-Ick or something along that line. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-12/sp/index.php
Thanks for the offer Atticus but I'm not going to the meeting.......I may try hyposalinity if things get too bad before Monday. Right now he's still eating so I'm hopeful he'll be okay. I may also check out Petsmart as we have one here......thanks again to all who replied.
