In tank refugium to test tang compatibility?

I honestly feel like this thread was pointless. The OP posted looking for feedback on whether or not they should add a purple tang to a 90 gallon tank that already has a yellow tang in it. They were given examples of why it's not a good idea and told by at least 5 posters that it's not recommended. No matter how many chime in that it's not the best idea, that ONE poster said they've done it and the OP posted right after saying they are going to try it. It seems to me that it was one of those threads where they knew what they were going to do and were just looking for justification from ONE rather than the advice of MANY.

I'm going to give you my opinion again, I don't think it's a good idea. You're going to have aggression issues, stress issues, space issues, and so on. If the purple is already beat up (and still in the sump), you should try to get him into a qt and healthy before you throw it to the wolves. Or established YT in this case.

Seems like we always meet up in these types of threads. I agree with what you say nearly every single time. However I do not agree with your delivery. Your delivery comes off as condesending in most cases which is not conducive to people learning. If you worked on your delivery people will be more apt to use some of the quality advice you offer. In most case I take what you say as confrontational. For all we know, you are just a hobbyist like the rest of us, and just because you say it doesnt always make it the gospel. I would like to offer you a freindly challenge to work on your delivery. You have great advice to offer, and it would hit home with good freindly delivery. I do not feel the thread is pointless, because even if the OP does not take to majority of advice, several other readers may. In this case, he probably had his mind made up, and that is too bad, but you should not chastise him for his decision. In many cases, it is just best to politely tell them you disagree, and if you were indeed correct they will most certainly learn from their mistake. Hopefully this does not provoke an attack, I assure you my intentions are good, however I have no control over how you react. I would just like to see your good advice received constructively more often.

No, no, no...no attack perceived! The worst part is that I read and re-read my posts before posting and don't think they come off as confrontational. lol Let me see what I can do.

Good man! Just remember, even if we cant get to the OP and help them, we may be helping another reader!

Both Yellows were in the 4" range. The larger Purple is 5-6" and the smaller purple is around 3". Any new fish introduced to an established tank is going to attract attention from the others. I've noticed that it dies off in a few days to a week but like others have posted there will always be short arguments among the inhabitants.

MTH that is good to hear. I just want to give it a try to see what happens. The pitch black introduction sounds like a good idea. How big were your yellows when you introduced the purple?
