In Wall 300 Build

that tank is rad!!! never seen stackable cylinder tanks like that... you should post the link where you found those... im sure a lot of reefers here would find a good use for those

I like your idea about the 4" concrete leak fail safe... i've been developing my plans for my fish room once we get the new house built.... instead of the concrete... I was thinking of having the whole room built recessed 4-6 inches...that will create the concrete barrier around the entire room (kind of like garages are done... and possibly coating the floor and maybe a foot up the wall with some form of water proofing/ slip proofing... i'll have a large drain centered in the room... I'm thinking peace of mind and catastrophe avoidance

Thanks Druzzelle, yes I had a 150G in wall cube at my last house. The ATO stuck open overflowed the sump and went into my finished basement and brand new carpet, trying to avoid that scenario again!

So new sump arrived last night and it is sweet. I have never in my 20+ years of having a reef tank bought a sump. Usually it is just a "ghettofide" 30 or 40 breeder and it worked just fine. Well I wanted to finally have a nice sump and this fits the bill. Some of the features I liked about the EA sumps, were the built in probe holders, baffle adjustment on the water depth, pre-drilled holes for flex line for dosing, built in sock holders and the etched in numbers for sump depth to name a few.

Where did you get the algae scrubber? I've been looking for that exact one after seeing it in a youtube video but I can't find a website selling it since I don't know the name.

So it's been almost a year sadly since I have any updates! So sometime life get's in the way and you have to make time for the things you love to do. Work, family, and taking care of my parents has been the priority over the last year. Sadly my Dad past away a few weeks ago but he lived a long great life which is all you can really ask for right? This year I set a few goals, lose some weight get in better shape, and get that reef tank finally going as well as finishing my basement.

Yesterday I took off the "diaper insulation" that was put on when the contractor built the house. Putting up Rigid Foam instead, which will be a much better product IMO in the long run for any water/mold issues that could arise. I will frame in front of this and use Roxul stone wool insulation between the studs to increase the R value. After that bust out the drain move it the outside wall for the mop sink an for water changes. After that grind the floor and put down commercial epoxy with solid flake. More to come soon...

Have also been looking at equipment, still not decided but leaning L1 Vectra for my sump for return to two (2) Seaswirls in the main tank and, will also feed the 60 gallon deep blue frag tank. I am mainly leaning to the L1 since they rate fairly well and I plan on putting two (2) Ecotech batteries for back up to the L1. Also purchased a relatively inexpensive generator for backup, and for tailgating of course. (wanted a Honda but I could by three of these for the cost of the Honda) In the pic this will be the same epoxy finish floor in my fish room, I did this in my garage last fall...

Slow n' steady framing walls when time allows hope to put a bigger dent on the walls and insulation this coming weekend. Looking to get my plumber buddy out to run hot & cold for my new utility sink and separate valve to feed my RODI unit.

Bought some more equipment. Although I really wanted to get a Life Reef Skimmer I got a steal on a used AquaMaxx Cone skimmer if I don't like it will switch to a Life Reef. Lighting - I have read so many LED, Back to MH, & T5 threads and changed my mind multiple times. After reading FarmerTy's build thread I am going to try two (2) Ocean revives with my old 250W MH Lumenbright Radium in the center supplemented by a ReefBrite Actinic LEd. I may also add a T-5 buld or two for supplementation but we will see.

Reviving this dinosaur, yes it's the longest/slowest build ever here are some old pics of the room before I started:

Slowest build? Hah!! Don't make claims you can't support :)

I started designing in 2014 and just now bought the house in which the tank will be put ~ 2018... now that's sllooooooow

You're blazing ahead in comparison.

So how did you fix the drain? Did you break the slab down to the pipes?

Karimwassef, yes busted out the floor around the existing drain cut off a clean section of existing pipe and installed a new section of pipe & new drain where I wanted it.
