OK I am finishing my basement, using the metal studs. I will be extending the room around my furnace so that I can put a 125 6' tank in the wall. I have a few questions for those of you who have in wall tanks.
I really want to do this, although convincing my wife was tough. I need to make sure of a few things before I do it though because if it goes wrong, I think I just may be spending a lot of money on a divorce lol
1.) Does humidity, salt or anything else effect the drywall thats sits in front of your tank??? Anyway to prevent it??
2.) I'm using metal studs, which will obviously rust if I don't do anything. Could I simply use the plastic used to cover insulation?? like I would cover all the studs and walls above and below the tank. Then push the tank forward????
3.) Humidity in the room, its only a 125 with a sump thats covered so would there really be a humidity issue?? My 90 gallon upstairs does not cause any issues, adding 35 gallons can make a difference??? I was told I may need a ventillation system?? My concern is because this will be in the furnace room. Now my understanding is that the furnace itself does not pull any air from around itself, it pulls from cold air returns from around the house correct?
4.) Any other things I should not overlook while puting a tank in wall?? any cons about it??
Please folks because I'm framing the place tomorrow and I want to know before the weekend if I will go ahead with the in wall or not.
