Increasing coraline growth

Other than dosing 2-part Bionic, what would has worked for you guys in getting greater growth. ( i do not have $500 for a calcium reactor at this time)

kalkwasser, more blue/actinic light, lower lighting overall.
moderate coralline grazing by an urchin may spread more coralline spores.

with your current lighting, you may notice no coralline on exposed areas, and more on sides and shaded areas?

Hey Sharkdude, I have a similar lighting fixture... 2 250w MH and 2 96w PC. Is that too much lighting for corraline growth? I have been using kalk and also purple up... and I am getting some corraline.. but mostly more brownish/greenish than purple. None is growing on tank walls or overflow box... only on the rocks. Do I need to reduce lighting? BTW, the MH bulbs are 14k. LMK. I plan to move to Acintic Blue PC bulbs and 10k MH bulbs in the future.

Have you seeded your tank? Here's my old tank using b-ionic and purple up.

What your dosing is fine, just test how much calcium you have in the tank and maintain it at a good lvl. It would also be a good idea to check that Alk/Mag lvls also. Try and maintain these lvls at the right parm and you should have good coraline growth. Additives and seeding would also work well but the best advice I can give you is "Give it time"

One bottle of Purple Up by Carib Sea worked for me, it boost your calcium. Follow the directions exactly though and maintain good light.

It's important to get the coral line growing before the green hair algae comes in and cycles. My green hair only lasted 2 weeks.
