increasing flow through durso pipes

I have 2 1" durso pipes in my over flow and the question is this; Is it possible to increase the flow being taken in through the dursos? I am running two pumps and I have one of them throttled way down to prevent overflowing and I would like to be able to increase the flow through that pump as the other one is not really able to be scaled back.

what size is the bulkhead.....1"? I have 1 1/4" dursos with all 1 1/2" coming from both overflows. Although it seem like i could move a ton of water the 1" bulkhead at the bottom of tank causes a retriction. Usually you can get about 600gph max through a 1" bulkhead.
Don't know where the thread is but someone on here cut out the teeth in the overflows and installed a mesh plastic screen over it. I think (repeat.... think) that they got a little more flow.

acording to mega flows specs u get 750 per overflow thats a 1" bulkhead and there standpipe, i turned my 3/4 returns in to durastands too 4 drains +4 returns + sequence baracuda= :)

well not sure what they flow at but ultimately the size of the hole in the glass or plexy determines actuall maximum flow potential, @ a 1 1/2 id guesse 1000 0r more per bulkhead

I am thinking of attempting a rebuild on the pipes one at a time. If I build one and I am able to increase the down flow, I may not have to replace them both.

so you mean reconstruct the actual duro stand? cause in your first thread u said 2 -1" durso pipes, the actual durso standpipe should be a bigger diameter pipeing than the actual bulkhead hole diameter, you also said you had 1 1/2 bulkheads, if this is the case than the durso should start at 1 1/2 pvc but then jump up to a larger size i guesse 2"? not sure if there is anything between 1 1/2" and 2". my 1" bulkheads use 1 1/4 durso stands my 3/4 bulkheads use 1" dursostands

of course mine are exactly wrong then. I bought them through the durso website and requested units to fit in 1.5" bulkheads. They came with male 1.5" fittings that were scaled down to 1 or 1.5".(it is really hard to get back to where the overflow box is as the tank is 30" deep with lighting hung from the canopy. I didn't have a problem until I removed the nasty media in an ocean clear canister I was using (still am). Once the media was removed the pump I was using was too powerful and had to be cut back with a ball valve.
