Anyone know how to stop the spread of Incredible hulk acro? It was over a 12" across and we broke it off and put a war coral next to it with no success. Its come back with vengeance.

It won't stop growing. You'll just have to keep trimming it. Are you wanting to completely get rid of it?

then remove it and sell it to someone local.

or chop it into 10 pieces and sell to 10 ppl.

or 100 pieces to 100 ppl;. and so on.

or just send it to me ! lol

you can get some good cash for colony that large.

HTH,

We broke off the huge colony and dried it out. It was twice the size of the red planet to the right. Now there are just 8 inch diameter area of the single sprouts. The would be perfect for breaking off and fragging but we would like to get something nicer.

lol. Its nice that our sps grows fast but its extremely aggressive and getting close to encroaching on an oregon blue tort. We don't want an entire tank just full of this stuff. We have our war coral isolated on its own rock (bottom left) because its so aggressive but when we put it on top of the hulk it was loosing the battle.

put an ad on local sites, "all you can pick, $10 for every minute" lol

like those cherry picking farms lol

Im sure ppl would line up and every single polyp

This is half of the original colony which is about 7 inches tall and 5 across. The rest was broken up and used as rubble.

I've just recently started taking care of my husband's tank so I'm no super knowledgeable.

But he believes his sump is the reason for the growth. The only thing he does to his aquarium is top it off. I honestly cant remember the last time he did a water change either (I do believe it needs one now though). He also rarely feeds it. When he does its only the fish he feeds a few pellets to. I wouldn't say the lighting is that much of a contributor because we started out with 8 high output t5s and switched to a single mogul last year because he didn't want to buy 8 new bulbs.

6 inch sand bed, baffle packed with cheato, lots of rock in every chamber.

Water pushes its way through the sand...

Our snails also often release sperm and eggs clouding up the whole system. When our tuxedo urchins were still around they also clouded up the aquarium occasionally.

That hulk is amazing.. Can't believe you guys dried it out.. I'm sure everybody on this forum would ave loved some frags!!

I hope to have growth problems like you one day ;)

I told him he should have sold it. I tried to get him to take it down to get some store credit but when he couldn't bag it and didn't want to bother it! Said it was common and not worth the trouble to get it down to the store. We did mount a hand full of pieces before drying it out though.

Cut it down to the rock and then cover the rest with epoxy putty. I'm going to be helping to break down and restart a 300 gallon tank just because the rock has been overgrown by several different montis that have killed several acros. In large tanks sps can become pests. It sounds silly, but it does happen after a few years.

The hulk is becoming a pest! He would be fine on his own rock but he's going to over run the tank. I love your idea to lop him off and cover him up with putty. Thanks!

I will gladly pay you and your husband and the shipping cost for a decent sized hunk of that hulk. PM me if your interested.
