Individual Reflectors For Nova Extreme?

I was thinking of getting a couple of reflectors for the Nova Extreme. I just want 4 of them for the 10,000 K lights. I know that it would be tight, so I was thinking of letting the Actinics without. I was thinking I may have to cut off the last bend to get it to fit. Has anyone ever tried this?

There is also rumor that Current will have a retro-kit available in March for these fixtures.

Well, I did it. It definitely doesn't have room for 8 reflectors, but it has room for 4 with some trimming. I'm not really sure how much benefit I am getting and it is really hard to see them in the pics. Basically, I had to cut the first two bends out of them to get them to fit. They are all mounted on the 10ks. I think the actinics get some reflection out of them due to the fact that they are cut down. Anyway, here they are. You can see the holes for the LEDs.

Diddo the light impact question.

Also ...
Current has retrofit kits now for their T5HO. They are about $5 more than Tek, but they include the bulbs. They are only 2 Lamp though.

Does anyone know what type of ballast they put into the extreme fixtures? I have one over my 40 Breeder which is more than enough light for the ~13" of water it has to do through. Mushrooms went on to the sides of my rocks to shade themselves.

Anyway if I move to a taller tank I was going to rip it apart and create my own housing to hold individual reflectors.

I was just wondering how powerful the ballast was in it.

Anyone know about the ballast? Anyone else take this sucker apart to make their own 'retro'?

Thanks,

I have the 4 bulb Nova Extreme and was thinking of doing this as well. How has it worked out for you? Is it really any different? How hard was it to do?

You can only get them under every other bulb and then they have to be cut down. It was a pain to do. I honestly don't know if it helped or hurt any. It will add light from the back of the daylights, but it blocks some of the actinics.
