induce splitting?

Can you induce splitting of mushrooms by making a small slice on one side or would it just grow back together?

my experience is that rics will grow back together. My rhodactis will split if torn at all.

when i frag mine. I usually cut the stalk to seperate the foot and head. Then i slice the stalk down the center to give me two. They'll usually form two new ones. These experiences are with mushrooms though. Have yet to try them with my new rics.
