INFO: Acid / BLEACH DRY ROCK

Little info needed on cleaning up dry rock.

Soaked dry rock in 10 water to 1 mur acid till it stop frothing. pulled rock and scrubbed with brush.

Soaking rock again over night in 25 water to 1 mur acid.

I will soak in tap water with baking soda for a day.

Soak in tap water again.

Air dry for about one week.

Soak in a bleach bath

Rinse tap water

Air dry

Then try to be creative with some aquascape work

any issues with my process? Oh, I am using about 10 gallons per soak and rinse. PLEASE NO, "we are in a drought "

Over kill --- No need to bleach -- Acid wash with 10 parts water to 1 part acid solution - add acid to water not the other way around. Then rinse scrub rinse - you are done. Soak if you wish in seasoned saltwater to cycle - but they can be added straight to an existing tank if the percentage of new to old isnt too big.

Have done it that way lots of times no issues. The rest is just a waste of our valuable water lol

I have 50 lb of new/old rock sitting in the final saltwater bath right now.

I used Jeff's method here recently and it worked very well. After the acid bath I had nothing to scrub off even. No need to let it even dry out because the acid did all the work for you. I ran a small heater and a maxijet 1200 for about 3 weeks doing a 50% water change once. Started it off with tank water. Kills 2 birds with one stone. A water change and gives you seasoned water for rock. After 4 days I dropped in a couple krill in a mesh bag and let the rock cycle. Was amazed when I stuck 100 lbs in the tank and 0 algae bloom or nutrient spike. After 2 days the nutrients actually dropped due to the bigger bacteria filter.
