Are you using phytoplankton? What is your PO4 reading ? PH, Alk..Trates? What is the source for your water, and what is the TDS of the water? How often are you feeding? How old are your bulbs?

Not to hijack this thread, but when should you replace your bulbs? Any kind of time frame?

I've always heard a pretty standard every 9 months, some ppl change their VHO very 6 months *shrug*, if they start to yellow I'd change them, if you start seeing a lot more algae change them, if they go out you should have changed them long ago :-). Its one of those things the older they are the less light intensity you will get, how long do you want to wait, some books I have say once a year but that seems a bit to long to me personally.

What kind of bulbs? Basicly every 12 months, some more...some less. People with straight daylight VHO's replace them every six months. I think T-5's last a bit longer.
I replace all my bulbs once a year.

I'd do every 9months to a year depending on how they look, but at least once a year.

Thanks. I have been chaging about every 6 months. I don't know why, I must have read it somewhere

I've seen ppl advertise MH setups with bulbs with 11 months use on them lol. changing every 6 months keeps the light brighter but really could be saving yourself a bit of money and go with 9-12, and that way you wouldn't have to break as many aqua-holic bulb :-)
