feed back please on this...thinking about getting a ORA McCullochis ......they r now available and my lfs can get those for me....I hve a 2 year 36x18x24 reef tank with on a mystery wrasse in it......
what care does McCullochis require .......should i go for 2 juveniles.....can they pair up???...how aggressive can they get...
would like to start discussion on this..
thanks

Ora will give you what they've got. They need a 40gl or larger with lots of hiding space if it's a community tank.

Which lfs is it? I talked to mine and they can get them, too, but at $399 each. That doesn't work too well at Xmas time.

I think Kevin Kohan at liveaquaria was working with wild caught adults if I'm not mistaken (which I could be LOL)
5".

They are actually captive bred pair from Mr. Blue.. So those being sold on the DD are F2 generation..

From their blog..

"In late 2008, LiveAquaria.com obtained several pairs of captive-bred McCulloch's Clownfish (Amphiprion mccullochi) - a species not seen in the marine aquarium trade. "

I heard there is significantly higher likelihood of normal pairing behavior in tanks larger then 48". This was from Mr. Blue's posts. And re: aggression-- quite aggressive.

Ahhh, thank you! I read it but my brain parked that info somewhere in the back LOL.

I don't have these, but I have a pair of Latz and they come from same area. Cooler waters. I keep mine at 74-75 degrees. I heard that they can be aggressive but which clown species isn't? Great success in having F-2 available in market.

I would think they would be on DD.
sign up for their e:mail updates, they've been popping up singly. There was a nice one up last night which didn't appear to have as pronounced of a hump-head deformity as many of the others they posted. Some even looked like they had a slight overbite although that could have been the pix. I'm not surprised last night offering went so fast.
I've a passing interest in them so have been following DD listings, maybe when cost come down and overall quality goes up as happened with tank bred Latz.

This is the pair we got, I'll post pics of them in their QT tank when I get some time this weekend...my camera cable finally came in.

Do you think mine have a "hump head"?

It's hard to tell from the thumbnails. The angle of the first pic doesn't show any issues but the second one looks to have a slight hump head, still not anywhere as bad as 95% of the early ORA polymnus i used to see at the LFS's. What do you think?
What ever the case it'll be interesting to see how they look in a few years when full grown, beautiful pair, they look so cool now!

They do look better in person, it's hard to tell a lot of stuff from pictures that's for sure. Thanks for the compliment! They are actually quite adorable (which I wasn't sure they would be LOL) and they are zippy little guys for sure!

Your planning on breeding them correct? If so they both look good for a broadstock pair. Keep me posted about how well they pair.

Will do! They are doing great, no trouble with them getting along at all (other than those first couple of hours LOL)...
