That is one of the purposes. To have an area that it will collect and a mechanism inside each that will reduce/process it.
A 30 gallon DSB inside a brute container with a flow of water over the top is supposed to process this material in the same manner that a beach/sand bed would.
I am still reading also.
would that be a wise choice of volume to surface area though? Is there an effective depth where your DSB won't be any more use? Seems a 30g brute would be too tall to be of much use but who knows.
I know there are sand filtering systems that work on the concept of a really large volume of sand, but they don't work like a DSB.
