injured sailfin tang

I have a problem.....my yellow sailfin tang got sucked onto the intake section of the seio 1200 blower. When I got home I noticed it & pried it off. He looks very sick...his one eye is distended and the one side of his body looks "beat-up" for lack of a better description. He's in a botton corner barely moving. Should I let nature take its course or is there something that I can do to help him???? Please advise.

Next time shut off the Seio and he will just come off

didn't think of that.....initial reaction was "GET HIM OFF IT".

I'll try the Melafix....hope it works - he's real pretty when he's feeling well!!!!

Add some stress coat too. I have a mandrin goby go into a DIY fung and was beat to all heck by a powerhead for a couple hours at least. He pulled through with some time. Don't just wait and see, take some action.

thanks for your advice & concern but it was too late.....He is now swimming peacefully in the big, beautiful, blue ocean in the sky- with no Seio's (or wherever fish go)

That is the same fate mine suffered several months ago. I feel your pain.

Pufferpunk, no offense, but Melafix is absolutely useless in this type of circumstance. May as well feed the thing sugar cubes.

What the fish needs if anyone has this again is Selcon, in food. I wouldn't move it out of the tank. My Kole had this 3 times and mroe happen to it and it's great now. Rod's food soaked in extra selcon, garlic, some beta glucan powder, and for good measure Seachem focus. Mix that all together in a bag and refreeze it, then feed 3x a day, targetting the wounded fish.

Chasing it around to remove it and move to a new environment and then giving it tea tree oil or whatever that stuff is is not going to do much.

3 days it's fine. Once the Kole had been stuck at least an hour and was badly tattooed.

I have seen many a puffer, with huge gaping holes in their side from powerheads, fully recover with only the use of Melafix.

Coincidence. They recovered on their own.

Selcon = essential vitamins to boost immunity and white blood cells and naturally replenish slime coat.
Focus = mild antibiotic to prevent open wounds from becoming infected.

Binds medicines to food, it's a sort of powder/pellet. Seachem makes it. Normally have to get it online.

Search on metronidazole and focus with my name in there too in username in RC and you'll see the primary use.
