Input on foam walls

Contemplating a foam egg crate type wall to attach rocks to tank. Any input on this subject would be much appreciated. Any other techniques to make rock attach to back wall? Any downsides?

Also, will I get the same filtration pound per pound wise as I would if rocks were in substrate?

The foam is very buoyant fyi. Make sure its well secured or has a lot of rock
