input wanted on a request for my mitra

I got the following pm this morning (attached below). I want to send the snail to this guy but Tom wants me to ask you guys first. I'm pretty sure I will be sending him (unless anyone thinks its a bad idea) and want to know the safest way to ship the snail to insure he gets there fine. (btw I only saw these one time for sale and haven't seen them since....have any of you?)

They're around and they come up from time to time. I bought several with the misinformation that they were similar to nassarius in diet. It is a hardy animal if well fed, heck I've had one live for almost a year, but the only risk is that it may already be weakened from life in captivity and may not survive the trip.

Package it well and send it overnight. As long as he's willing to pay the shipping. Tell him we'd like to hear more about the research.

yes i have seen them lots. they seem to be seasonal but they do pop up frequently. i have seen them at eddies but more often at something fishy.

The animal will be used for behavioral observations only, I have currently have two species of conus, one species of buccina. We use the animals to make films in reference to their predatory methods.

And under our care, the mitra could recieve husbandry specific to mitras. With specificity on sediment depth, food intake etc. Most importantly, it would recieve monitored and regular feeding of sipunculans, its natural diet.

I am going to send him. I saw the little guy last night towards the front area of my 180...he made an appearance for my sons graduation party. I just have to find him to send him out....big tank, lots of sand and rock to find one snail when you want to.

The phone number you gave me didn't work.

I want to let you know I just sent out the Mitras at 5:00 today and it will be there by noon tomorrow. (hope someone is there to get the package). I sent it overnight U.S. Mail. There are two snails packed in a cooler with a heat pack. I went somewhere today to get the bag they are in filled with oxygen to help them with there trip.

Let me know when you get the package...take care of my little guys

(snails and shipping are on me....just keep me updated from time to time)

Some of those picavore vids are brutal but thats coming from a fish lover. I always knew cones ate fish but never actually saw it.
