Inside of a Magfloat?

Does anyone have a picture of whats inside a magfloat, or any magnet cleaner for that matter?

Are the magnets inside magfloats protected by more then just the Grey outer casing? Is the actual magnet protected in any way, if the Grey out casing is breached, what then will protect the magnet from the water?

Are the magnets inside the magfloat, neodymium or ceramic?

I would love to see a magnet from inside one of those things hehe.

Why? It doesn't take a scientist to know whats inside. There is no "design" or "engineering" behind it.

Magnet, with waterproof casing.....

lol, I'm not busting my magfloat. Was hoping someone else already did.

Psssst, Me too :)

I just was curious if the magnets inside the floats where protected themselves. Is there a second line of defense for protecting the magnets if the casing is breached. The reason I'm curious is because, I'm trying to make some reef safe magnets, for some ideas I have. I just thought getting a glimpse of whats inside the mag float my help me a little.

My bad if I'm asking an out of line question. Should I keep my posts in the beginners forum, or is this just not the place for me. Maybe I have to many question. The general attitude around here is crapy lately.

You either know whats inside or you don't, you have a picture or you don't. Why always some snippy attitude.

Why not?

The whole thing about, there is a magnet inside or feed it to the dog. I enjoy those comments, all in good fun and humor. But whats with Clevername2000, maybe he should just keep his comment to himself. Ah hell maybe I'm overreacting.

LMFAO! Never thought about it till now! I really want to know! Come on some has to have a busted A$$ magfloat! Do it for your fellow reefers! This is going to get thread of the month!

Come to think of it, I wouldn't be against cutting one open. Just not the one thats in the tank at the moment. Next time I order salt or something, I'll pick up an extra magfloat and chop it open, If no one has posted up a good pic of whats inside by then.

hehe, Hey troylee

heh, ok i will tell. 2 nickel coated neodymium magnets glued to a metal bar glued to the mag float. they are not sealed, so if your mag float cracked the saltwater can get to it.

There is a lot of empty space in there, you can tell if they are leaking because the air inside is what makes then float. If is becomes a mag sink, then worry about it.

Also just for fun...eating one magnet is ok, but if you eat 2 you could be in grave danger.

You can always use "dip" for tool handles and coat the magnets

just a thought but the outside of mag drive impeller is a magnent that is not covered in any way?
I agree. All powerheads use a magnet for the impeller, which is not protected in any way. Don't see why you would need a line of defense against the magnet.
