installing circulation pumps

I'm deciding on whether or not to purchase EcoTech Vortech mp10w

I've been reading up on it and coming across this term that I do not understand.

Master/Slave pumps?

Do i need to buy TWO? cause these pumps are rather pricey.

Im also looking to wait for the new Tunze Nanostream 6040. Its cheaper and has even a lower profile. I hear its new tech makes it silent but in comparison to the modes and power available wit the ecotech. I might jump the gun on the mp10's

You do not need two MP-10's, but having two in your tank allows you to create a lot of different flow configurations and make waves. When you do have two or more MP powerheads in your tank one gets set up as the master and the rest are usually programed to run as slaves of the master pump (ramp up and down the flow either the same or in the anti-sync mode opposite of the master pump).

For a tank that small you could look into the Jebao WP-10s. They're $38 on Amazon (I have two in my 29g hooked up to my Apex).

When you say hooked up to your apex, you mean just plugged into your apex powerbar for on/off? There isn't a way to control the settings from apex is there?

The only reason im considering the mp10's is because i am also thinking of getting the xr15w Radion light :3
