interceptor help

i posted this in the sps forum this morning, but got no replys. hopefully somebody here can help me.

im about to dose interceptor in my tank and im still kinda confused about how much of this pill to use.

id like to double the dosage and do 2 seperate treatments.

system is 40 gallons total (30 gallon tank with 10 gallon sump). probably a little less if i account for sand and live rock, but im just gunna treat as if there was 40 gallons of actual water.

i have 1 pill. it says for dogs 51-100 lbs.

so how much of this pill do you think i should use? im thinking about 1/8th of the pill, but the pill is so small it doesnt look like thats a lot of medication.

any help is appreciated.

Each tablet treats 380 gallons of water so 1/8 of the pill will be fine. The manufacturer has stated that the actual medicine might not be spread evenly throughtout the tablet, thats why you do 3 treatments.

Its very hard to overdose your tank with this stuff so dont be concerned about a little extra. People have done 4x the dosage with no ill effects. Its nerve racking the first time but you will see an immediate improvement and besides any inverts, most live stock will be fine. The SPS will start to slime up and you will be able to see the red bugs stuck to the slime.

Takes that 1/8 of the tablet and mix it with a cup of tank water and pour it in.

cool. i just did the first treatment about 5 mins ago. i crushed up the whole tablet, then split it into seperate piles so hopefully the medicine spread out evenly. i used about 1/7th of a pill, just to be safe.

You will start seeing an improvement very quickly. Better PE and just happier looking corals. Make sure you do the 3 treatments.

I treated my tank twice and there were no red bugs left, or so I thought. I found myself having to start over a few weeks later and did the full 3 treatments and never had them again.

well its been like 3 and a half hours and the corals arent sliming up at all. only thing i noticed is that my feather duster doesnt look to happy.

From my research and own use the dose should be roughly 1mg per 25g of water. I have doubled it the 2 times I needed it and had success in eliminating the red bugs. The second time however, 2 of my bigger colonies get really stressed and started STN which I gradually slowed and then stopped but not before losing most of the colony. Be careful and make sure you don't overdose or fail to do a good water change when you're done with the treatment. Lots of carbon when you're done too.

i used 2/7th's of a pill for the first treatment. i plan on using the same dose for the 2nd and 3rd treatments. i left it in all day. ran some carbon at night and then did a water change the next morning. everything went smooth and i can say th infected corals are definetly showing better PE.

i was treating for both red bugs on the acroporas and black bugs on the montis. both came in around march and i had been living with them since, but i just finally decided to do somehting about it.

the one thing im worried about is that i left one hermit crab and a porcelain crab in the tank. once i noticed the hermit crab slowed down and was basically going to die i took him out. there was no way for me to get to the porcelain crab, so i figured i would loose him. he actually survived the treatment. i dont know how considering i used a pretty strong dose? i dont see any pods either, which is expected, but im not sure why the porcelain crab didnt die.

getting prepared to dose tomorrow.Ihope all goes as planned.

My only real concern is my coral banded shrimp,he has been with me since day one.No way to get him out.

Thanks for the help teen.

idk if that was directed towards me or not, but my treatments went great. i did 3 seperate treatments (last treatment was this past saturday). used 2/7ths of a pill each time, left the first treatment in for 24 hrs, second treatment in for a little over 12 hrs, and the third and final treatment i left in for 24 hrs again.

both the red bugs and black bugs are all gone. i plan on putting my shrimp and hermits back in the tank sometime this week. only casualty was my purple lobster. he died while in the QT tank. i think my pistol shrimp harrassed him to death.

oh, and i think that porcelain crab may have died as well, because i dont see him anymore.
