Interest in MACNA

We have talked some in different meetings about wanting to host a future MACNA so I wanted to get a thread going to see if there is enough interest to set up a Committee to gather the information and start the process. I would also like anyone who would be interested to be on the committee to speak up or if you know someone please let me know.

I think it would be incredibly cool to host MACNA in the Nashville, and I will GLADLY participate in whatever way I can to help out. I work in IT, and while I stink @ graphics work, I can provide website work, as well as a number of other things that jump out immediately, plus anything else that is needed.

Thanks!
Matt

Thanks Matt as you would deff. be needed here is a link to the next one.

as you can see they use the net a lot for these and we would have too also. This is also not a thing that you just jump into so we would have to look at this being a long term project. I am thinking 3-5 years. But the group of people that we will need will be a mix of some people who have little time and a lot of contacts and some that have a lot of time but know nothing of the higher reefkeeping community. One think that would be required for a successful MACNA would be that we use all of our members gifts to together.

That seems like an Excellent Adventure, Have no Idea what kind of help I could give but will do what I can, One thing I have is time so whatever i can do I will. Let me know what you have in mind Wayne and I'll try and help.

I would also be willing to help, assuming I don't have to take a job elsewhere in the future. :)

Primarily, I have some pretty big contacts in lighting and sound, but I would imagine I can be of some use in other areas, too. :)

Brandon, I can imagine that sound and lighting will be very important with the speakers that get slated each year, even knowledge of the equipment will be pretty important.

In all likelihood I will not be around by the time the club takes this step. I think it would be really exciting to do despite being a lot of work. Good luck and if there is anything I can do come the time to do it, I'll definitely help.

This year's Macna is about 25 minutes from where I grew up. It's also 6 days after my birthday... so maybe a combo trip depending on how things shape up for me.

If anyone does go to that and wants a really secluded, quiet, and clean beach, I recommend heading north from AC into Brigantine and just keeping driving north until you run out of road (it isn't very far). There's a beach up there that you need a special permit to access with vehicles (it's protected), but you can legally just walk down the beach there. It'll be a little late in the season so you'll definitely be able to get out there all alone... and honestly that's one of the only places on the NE coast where that holds true.
