Interested In Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and Premier Elements

I'm not real familiar with Photoshop... I've used it in the past but it was like 6 years ago, so definitely I'd need to relearn it.

Does the software that comes with the Canon 40D do enough "stuff" to be useable and all that I would need? Or would I need to get Photoshop to do some of the higher end editing? And would Elements do enough of what I need?

I really dont want to have to spend $13-1500 on camera and lens, only to have to spend another $500 on software.

I have a nikon so I don't know much about cannon's software. That being said, it has alot more than nikon's software. It gives alot of what photoshop does, but without as many options. Such as with frames you just don't have as many to chose from. For 90 bucks, it's well worth the price.

I want to be able to do white balancing and sharpness adjusting, that type of what I consider *basic* needs of photo software. Elements does that?

Not to try to shoot down PS, but you may want to take a look at GIMP. I have tried the free trials of PS and Elements and I think I can do anything I need to do with GIMP. It's a free download too. I found an excellent book on it at Barnes and Noble. Go to gimp.org to download it. The help files are a separate download.

Also, UFRaw and Pisaca are free downloads to edit your raw images and convert to JPEG. Google them for the downloads.
