The July meeting is booked, for third Mon at Newark library (July 17th). But is there any interest this month? I could take it or leave it frankly...I'll just be getting back from a hiking trip and it's my b-day to top it off :celeb1:

Crap! I was just getting ready to post how excited I was about the meeting this Monday. I have been into marine tanks for almost three years and they have pretty much took over my life. After working in a marine biology lab last summer I moved back to Newark because I had exhausted any science courses where I was going in Sussex county and I knew I wanted to do something with marine life if it all possible for a living.

Moving to Newark the only thing I could afford was University housing so of course there was no room for my FOWLR tanks. I set up a computer to monitor them and had my father drop by my house as I didn't trust my brother to.

I have not aloud myself to look into corals in the past because there was another other marine life to read about and in no way could I afford to keep corals or risk leaving them for a month alone on the opposite side of the tank. This semester I lucked out have moved into the basement of a house right off campus.(I choose the basement because I don't have to worry about weight restrictions of an upstairs room ) So now that I have my tank less then an inch away from my desk instead of hours away I have been to set up a true reef tank and began to read about corals. Last month I had class when DRC was meeting so needless to say I have been antsy for about two months now for this meeting to come. :-(
So what has happened with DRC is it just a club to talk online any more? The website seems like it has not been updated for a while and the calendar currently shows that there is not another meeting all year. I was told I would be surprised how many people were hard core into reefs in northern Delaware and now no one is interested in a monthly meeting. :-( Looks as if it is just me and my books again.

Looking back last month was canceled as well? What happened you guys get in a big fight or are there just not enough of you?

Everyone is doing other stuff during the summer, vacations, etc. Last month there was a BBQ, this month it looks like nthing will happen.

Maybe next month?

If you feel like driving a ways PARC has their meetings in bensalem, PA no matter if 2 people or 20 people show up.

yup, its true, all the other area clubs experience the same lack of interest in the summer and just skip meetings for june, july and august. everyone just has so much they want to do all summer. We scheduled meetings last summer and I was the only one to show up along with Marty our treasurer one month and Barry G. the other month. so as Mary posted we will no doubt resume and have attendance again in september. meanwhile , the forum is always open. and possibly another impromptu barbeque or something .

Thanks for all the happy b-days (same to you , Shnabbles!!), and welcome aboard Gordonious! Just hang in there til Sept, and things will pick up again - we promise. The reason a permanent calendar is not on our website is that the library where we meet will only let us book 2 mos out. So there may be some changes in availability to the normal 3rd Monday. This is unfortunate, but we've been through a big rigamarole earlier this year trying to change that, and no such luck.

It's cool, I havn't lived with my tanks in a while and now that I have them I just want to pick some brains and dive right into things. I have huge plans for my tanks that have been in the works for years. I have spent countless hours reading and talking with people. Yet of course soon as I get my tanks my free time disapears and so does my budget. I will be working soon, but that just means I will have even less time. I will be looking forward to this fall.
