Interesting "Frag Rack" idea

My tank does not have a sump and I enjoy fragging but do not like seeing all my frags sitting on the floor of my tank nor do I want to see eggcrate in my setup either. So I had an interesting Idea I wanted to run by, namely find a nice large flat piece of LR that would make a nice shelf that stuck out several inches into the tank. Then taking a masonry drill bit and drilling multiple holes into the flat topside of this piece of rock. Then I could glue small (1in) pieces of clear acrylic tubing to the bottom of my frags and temporarily mount them on this shelf. Then the frags can set while still sitting in the tank of their origin instead of a frag system and it would look alot nicer, kind of a "Frag Garden". What are your thoughts on the idea? Am I crazy?

It actually works fairly well, the 490 starphire corner tank I am going to try and get up and running soon will have all SPS mounted this way. That way I can easily slip them out of the tank for fragging at will. Any standard drill bit will work, masonry probably a little better depending on type of rock.

Chris, I think thats a great idea! LMK what size you may be looking for and I may have a nice piece(s). I have around 200-250 lbs of dried rock that I picked up a little earlier in the year that I havent started seeding yet. I'll talk to you at the next meeting.

Try to find the frag plugs that ORA uses. the Coral cradles don't work as well since they are not as deep. Plastic rebar will work well with a little heat manipulation at one end.
