So, unless it was a local trade or purchase from an individual, I haven't gotten any new corals since the dual Extreme Corals Debacle in which all but 2 corals died. This was out of the first order, then the order from the credit of the first losses.
I ordered, for the first time from Divers Den this week and the order was received today. Problem, however: Fedex delivered it to the wrong house. 3.5 hours later, when I was checking the tracking I saw it was listed as delivered at 10:30 this morning. Freaking, I went up and down the street until I found it at a neighbor's house, under their porch ornament, in the shade.
The box was packed in the customary cooler, with the heat pack on top. This did little good when the box was sitting on the cold concrete, and of course, heat rises. The bags were at 65 degrees when I checked two.
I made the call to Divers Den, and they said it was my call concerning replacements. I don't steal, so I said let's see what happens. I dipped them and dropped them in the main tank - no acclimation, then left.
Just got home and fed the tank and, kid you not: every one, except for some of the organ pipe polyps, are open and swaying in the water. Every one exactly as pictured on the Live Aquaria Divers Den site.
Now, let's re-compare to Extreme Corals: I signed for the packages and carefully acclimated. I think it was 11 total, between the original and the replacement order were received. Only 2 looked remotely like the pictures, and one wasn't even the same coral. Some of the bags smelled of rot. And in the end - the guy at Extreme said it could take weeks for the corals to recover, and ultimately the issue was with me and not with his corals.
Hmmm, what do you think?
