Internal Parasites...

Ambition

I am afraid that I am losing my pylei fairy wrasse now, probably going to lose her overnight. Anyways, I think the past few days have added too much stress for her to cope (wouldn't eat and now will only breath). This all started Monday. I did a water change on the 20 gallon QT (2 pylei and 2 clowns). Had to unplug the heater and forgot to plug back in. Wake up the next morning and the tank is 69*, it dropped from 80*. Both pylei were in hiding from the water change until this morning when the healthy one started coming out (still in stress color). This morning, the unhealthy (has internal parasites) one was upside down in one place, but still alert. Later on I decide I will put her out of her misery, but she got right side up and slowly moved away (then the clowns start nipping her). I remove her and move her to a 12 gallon tank. The only thing she is doing now is breathing. Not really alert because there is no eye movement. :sad2:

My question: Is this from just the drop in temp or is it from being too stressed from that to eat therefor now starving because of the internal parasites? Also, Prazi Pro can be used for internal parasites correct? If that is, it hasn't worked for me. She got IP after a 3 week treatment of PP and is now through her second week of a second treatment phase. Until she stopped eating, I was feeding two to three times daily with a whole mix of stuff.

PP can be used for some internal worms, however I do not understand how the IP were acquired after the 3 week treatment. New livestock, different tank? Whats the evidence of internal parasites? Stringy white poop? Eating without indications of growth?

The temperature drop overnight is likely a big stressor, but need more information about your IP diagnosis. Maybe cngreg can help with the diagnosis with more history and details. I would try to maintain the best water quality and stable temperature/sg in its temporary tank.

It has been the same fish together in the same tank. I was told it had internal parasites because of the white stringy poop and the pinched stomach, which occurred despite frequent feedings (2-3x per day).

I realize the temp swing a few days back is a huge stressor, but I am worried that she is starving because of having internal parasites and not eating since Monday before the water change and temp swing.

Lost the pylei from the OP. The other one is now starting to worry me. He was starting to act normal again after this temp swing, then this morning I find him floating in a corner breathing near the top in stress color. This afternoon he was out like he normally is, swimming around doing his thing. Now he is under a rock breathing slightly heavier than normal, also in stress color now.
