Intertidal/reef flat corals

Hi everyone,

I have based my aquarium on an Indonesian intertidal reef flat (strong, low K lighting, wave action, some turbidity) and I am trying to find out exactly what species of coral would live in this habitat. I am considering:

Acropora gemmifera
Acropora horrida
Acropora millepora
Pocillopora damicornis
Seriatopora hystrix
Stylophora subseriata
Turbinaria reniformis

Please give any ideas/suggestions/criticism, also for any other aspect of this type of habitat. All is welcome!

I wouldn't say that A horrida is a reef flat coral. The biggies are A humilis, A indiana, A monticlosa. Porities sp are reef lat too.

Hi,

I agree, however I am somewhat limited in my choice. From the species you mention, only A. humilis and Porites spp. are readily available in Germany (to my knowledge). My choices are also somewhat based on aesthetics. Perhaps I should rather ask; 'would any of these species be out of place?' Would A. horrida be out of place? I read; 'habitat: Turbid water around fringing reefs' here:
